| AMAZON RIVER CAIMAN |
| At 4:30 next morning we heard Daniel's voice, "Birding or fishing!" He gave us the choice. Some hauled in catfish with sharp pointy fins, While others saw birds that produced great big grins. That evening some saw a caiman deceased, Body parts missing on which piranhas did feast. Later we went caiman searching at night, A fish jumped into Pearl and gave her a fright! The wasps they attacked and made our hearts thump, Poor Mark, he got stung which caused him to jump. Then the native boy reached for a caiman and SPLASH! He fell into the river but came up in a flash. With caiman in hand, he jumped into the boat And we raced back to the ship in order to gloat. Gilberto kept scaring us with his fierce caiman toy And each time we screamed, he'd giggle with joy. It started to pour then more fish jumped on board But we didn't care 'cause a caiman we'd scored. After some photos, the caiman went back To his home in the river and his life back on track. (continued on page 11) |
